In 1989 I became a certified mechanical engineer specialized in computer science.
While waiting to start my military service I worked 10 months as a designer at the Volvo Europa Truck (VET) company of which 6 months at the body and white department and 4 months at the cabin interior department. During that period VET already owned CAD systems, internet and FEA* software!
After 10 months military service of which 2 months training in Belgium-Peutie and 8 months in Germany at the 13thCie TTr in Sankt-Tönis (Krefeld) I started working at the engineering company BnS engineering nv - Zelzate during an economically difficult period.
My main job consisted of performing strength calculations of pressure equipment (storage tanks, piping, vessels, heat exchangers,...).
Because of the growth of this company; in the mean time the name changed into Grontmij Industry nv; Zelzate became too small for its employees so additional offices were opened at Zwijndrecht and Herentals.
Because of the seconding to Zwijndrecht and the diminishing job satisfaction I decided in 2013 to leave the company and find a new job that was much closer to production and practice.
In order to have enough time to take care of our son Koen I looked for a job as weekend worker. Ontex-Eeklo was a company that could offer me such a job. Until today I happily work there as fault technician to keep the machinery operating and producing within tolerances.
My hobby's:
- cycling
- gardening (in the movie below you can see me working the soil with my two wheeled tractor)
- cooking
- the computer
- karaoke (Thai) - favorite artists are: Mike Piromporn, Siriporn Ampaipong, Yinglee Srijumpol
In 2019 I had the honor to go on photo with superstar Mike Piromporn after his performance at Lao Khwan - Kanchanaburi - Thailand.
